About

Comprehensive and individualised endocrine care

Welcome to The endocrine and well being clinic

After years working within the public health system, Issy kept encountering the same frustration — not with the quality of medicine being practised, but with the conditions in which it was being delivered. Appointments too short to educate the patient and deliver comprehensive treatment plans specific to their needs. Lifestyle and diet treated as an afterthought. Patients leaving with a prescription but without a real understanding of what was driving their condition or what they could do about it.

She started The Endocrine & Wellbeing Clinic because she believed there was a better way.

The clinic is built around longer appointments — initial and follow-up — where there’s time to actually understand a patient’s full picture. That includes the physiology driving their condition, not just the presenting symptoms, and making sure patients leave with a genuine understanding of what’s going on and why. Lifestyle, diet, and exercise are part of the treatment plan from day one. Medication is used when it’s genuinely needed.

The underlying premise is straightforward: investing time early, and consistently, tends to prevent far more significant interventions later.

That’s the approach. It shapes the team Issy has built, the way appointments are run, and the environment the clinic operates in.

Dr Izzy's Story

Dr. Isobelle Smith is a specialist endocrinologist whose clinical focus spans PCOS, menopause and perimenopause, osteoporosis, thyroid disorders, obesity and metabolic health, diabetes, and athlete health. She is known for translating complex hormonal medicine into clear, practical guidance — and for taking the time to properly understand each patient’s situation and circumstances.

Issy completed her MBBS at the University of Tasmania in 2014 and her FRACP in 2023, with specialist training at St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital — two of Australia’s leading endocrine centres. Her clinical experience encompasses bone and calcium disorders, obesity medicine, and the management of complex eating disorders including anorexia nervosa.

Beyond her clinical work, Issy is the Endocrine Society of Australia representative on the Clinical Advisory Committee for the Centre for Research Excellence in Women’s Health in Reproductive Life (CRE-WHIRL), where she contributes to shaping the future direction of women’s endocrine care in Australia. She has completed original research and presented nationally on osteoporosis management and barriers to exercise prescription.

Issy believes that education is as important as treatment. Every patient she sees leaves with a clear understanding of their condition, the evidence behind their management plan, and the confidence to take an active role in their own health. You can follow her work on Instagram, where she regularly shares evidence-based content on hormonal health.
