Bell is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Sports Dietitian with a particular interest in eating disorders. She accepts referrals under the Medicare Eating Disorder Plan and works with patients with anorexia nervosa and other restrictive eating disorders, providing nutritional rehabilitation and medical nutrition therapy alongside the clinic’s endocrinologists, who manage the medical complications of under-nutrition such as bone loss, amenorrhoea and refeeding risk. She also treats binge eating disorder, the most common eating disorder in adults, which frequently goes unrecognised in people who present with weight concerns, fatty liver or type 2 diabetes. Her approach treats the eating disorder and the metabolic condition together, rather than focusing on weight alone.
Bell also specialises in optimising performance and health in female athletes, with a focus on energy availability, training-phase fuelling, race preparation, and conditions following chronic under-fuelling such as RED-S, bone stress injury and menstrual disturbance. This experience informs a non-judgemental, weight-inclusive approach for all patients.
She manages a broad range of endocrine and metabolic conditions including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, weight management including GLP-1 therapy, PMOS, osteoporosis, thyroid conditions, and gastrointestinal disorders affecting nutrition. Bell is a dietitian for the Sydney Roosters and the Australian Defence Force, and lectures at the University of Newcastle.
Patients who meet the criteria for an Eating Disorder Plan can access up to 20 dietetic sessions in a 12-month period, and the plan can be used alongside a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan where the patient also has a chronic condition. Referrals via HealthLink (EDI endwelcl), fax 02 7241 7040 or admin@endocrinewell.com.au. Bell consults Wednesdays and Thursdays.
